2015–2018
The Orthopaedic Institute for Children (OIC), in alliance with UCLA Health, leads new standards in pediatric orthopaedic treatment while providing unparalleled care for patients with musculoskeletal disorders, regardless of ability to pay.
As Visual Designer at Basis, I helped unite the brand’s digital presence with the playful spirit of its clientele through the ground-up creation of a new responsive site. In the two years following the site launch, I then helped create, manage, and implement all digital collateral for their annual fundraising events.
Challenged with a disparate brand image and overall lack of awareness, OIC needed a site that was visually engaging, showcased OIC’s philanthropic efforts in the community, and championed the organization’s long established roots and expertise as the leading orthopaedic medical center for children in Los Angeles, CA.
My role as visual designer involved creating the majority of screen mocks as well as slicing and inputing content into a custom CMS to create the new responsive site. Bright colors and powerful imagery were kept at the forefront of the design to soften the site's more serious topics for its parent/child audience, with custom icons and illustrations buttoning up a design solution that seamlessly represented OIC’s brand positioning and company mission.
After the well-received site launch, we retained OIC for routine site updates and expanded into marketing and support for their fundraising efforts. This included multiple annual events with unique landing pages and extensive Mailchimp email campaigns, for which I helped manage and produce everything from strategy and UX to copy and illustration to design and implementation.
